Black Liquid Art is a gallery specialising in modern and contemporary African art, based in Rome. It was born from the meeting of two complementary paths: extensive experience in the art market and a solid curatorial practice, united by a shared focus on artists from the African continent and its diaspora.

Massimiliano Del Ninno brings to the gallery over twenty years of activity as an art dealer, advisor, promoter and patron. Specialising in the secondary market, he has built a significant part of his career working in dialogue with the leading international auction houses, including Christie's, Sotheby's, Phillips, Artcurial and Bonhams, developing first-hand knowledge of the mechanisms of selection, valuation and circulation of works on the global market. Before contemporary African art gained its current international attention, he chose a discreet and independent approach, favouring direct relationships with artists, collectors and works. This ability to identify artists before their full recognition allowed him to spot and champion at an early stage names now internationally established, including Aboudia, Yeanzi, Marc Padeu, Olamilekan Abatan and many others.

Antonella Pisilli is Director and Curator of the gallery. With over twenty-five years of curatorial experience, she has built her career from the earliest exhibitions dedicated to African art in Italy through to co-curating the video art section "Rifrazioni / Africana Womanism" at the 16th Biennale Internacional de Arte Contemporânea de Curitiba (Museu Oscar Niemeyer, 2026). Her work defines the gallery's curatorial development: exhibitions, projects and narratives that convey the cultural, historical and visual complexity of the works presented.

Black Liquid Art operates as an independent platform between artists, collectors and the international market, combining exhibition activity, curatorial research, advisory services and the selection of works on both the primary and secondary markets, with particular attention to quality, provenance and the strength of each artist's trajectory.
