John Hopex (John Adenuga Opeyemi, b. 1992, Nigeria) is a hyperrealist artist working in charcoal, acrylic and fabric on canvas, based in Benin City. After a National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply at the Polytechnic of Ibadan (2014), he followed his vocation and earned a BA in Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Benin. His larger-than-life portraits, grounded in African narratives and traditional elements, combine photographic precision with vividly painted backgrounds, capturing everyday people with depth and emotional resonance. Featured by My Modern Met and TRT Afrika, he took part in the exhibition "Mimesis" at Black Liquid Art Gallery, Rome (2023), dedicated to the new Nigerian hyperrealism. His works have been shown in Nigeria, France and the United States.
