"Thread holds closeness and memory: it is soft but not weak, fragile yet enduring."
Pearl Adebisi (Pearl Olufunto Adebisi, b. 1994, Akure, Nigeria) is a textile artist working mainly with yarn on canvas, among the emerging voices of Nigerian fibre art. A graduate in Fine and Applied Arts of Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, where she was named Best Female Graduating Student, she embroiders stories rooted in everyday life, identity and resilience, translating emotion into texture. Thread, in her practice, holds closeness and memory, soft but not weak, fragile yet enduring, like human experience itself; the needle becomes a tool of intention, and her works, sewn through the edges, stand without a frame, open to be seen, touched and felt. Shaped by the strong women of her family and by a path begun under difficult conditions, her work reflects resilience, purpose and faith. She has exhibited in Lagos and Ibadan and at the +234 Art Fair, and completed the Life in My City Art Festival residency in Enugu (2025). She lives and works in Akure.
